Edward "Teddy" McDermott has deep roots on the Southside of Chicago. He and his 3 brothers come from a family with over 70 first cousins due to his father Jim being the youngest of eleven children and his mother Paula also from a family of eleven. He is a graduate of St. John Fisher and St. Rita High School. He has always done his best to give back to the communities that have offered him so much opportunity. Teddy understands the importance of hardwork and good mentorship. His father has been on the Chicago Fire Department for 15 years and his mother's dedication to various non-profit organizations is what initially sparked his interest in giving back to the community. Through Paula's work with Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Teddy has seen the impact proper guidance has on young men and women. Before the ABC program was formally instituted, Teddy finished at the top of his group, and has played a vital role in expanding the current program. Teddy is currently acting as the Head of Operations for the Advice Beyond the Classroom Program and was the primary architect behind the foundation's operational procedures.
