Derrick Fleming Jr.
Derrick M. Fleming Jr was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago and dedicates his life to mentoring at-risk youth in some of Chicago’s most underrepresented neighborhoods. He is a nonprofit management professional with over a decade of youth development experience and 5 years of project management experience. Derrick heads up the southeast Chicago field operations for Advice Beyond the Classroom in the Englewood and Gresham classroom locations. Spending much of his youth and professional life on the Southside of Chicago has motivated Derrick to also co-found a nonprofit that focuses on dispelling the negative stereotypes of urban males and focuses on mentorship programs for young men of color. His prior federal government experience includes working as an Advance Associate with White House staffers for the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. In that position, he assisted with the coordination of domestic event and trip logistics for former President Barack Obama. Derrick has also done extensive work for Metropolitan Family Service and views himself as a loyal servant to developing a greater good for his fellow constituents.
